What we offer

Lutefo works across the key stages of the coffee value chain, so quality is in our hands from the tree to the buyer.

  1. Coffee cultivation

Arabica grown on our own 186-acre farm in Igamba Village and tended by our own team.

  2. Coffee processing

We process our own harvest, with capacity for 180 tons of clean coffee every year.

  3. Coffee marketing

We sell our coffee directly to roasters, importers and traders, with full traceability.

Our mission

To cultivate, process and market exceptional Arabica coffee while promoting sustainable agriculture, delivering value to our business partners and contributing to the growth of Tanzania’s coffee industry.

Our vision

To become a trusted producer and supplier of premium Tanzanian coffee.

From cherry to export bag

Every step happens on the farm or under our supervision, so we control quality from the tree to the container.

  1. Hand picking

Pickers make several passes through each block and take only ripe red cherries.

  2. Sorting

Cherries are floated and hand sorted the same day to remove unripe and damaged fruit.

  3. Pulping

For washed and honey lots, the skin is removed at our wet mill.

  4. Fermentation

Washed parchment ferments in clean spring water before washing and grading in channels.

  5. Drying

Coffee dries slowly on raised African beds, turned by hand.

  6. Milling and export

Parchment is hulled, graded, cupped and bagged, then shipped.

Good coffee needs a strong community

Our pickers, processors and neighbouring smallholders are the reason Lutefo coffee tastes the way it does. We invest in them and in the land we share.

  • Fair, reliable work

Seasonal pickers are paid above the regional rate, on time, with quality bonuses for ripe-only picking.

  • Shade and soil

We plant indigenous shade trees, compost our coffee pulp and protect the streams that run through the farm.

  • Smallholder support

Neighbouring growers can use our processing station and get agronomy advice, seedlings and a fair price for cherry.
